Purple Day—An Illuminating Experience
When someone has epilepsy it has a profound affect on the lives of many other people, including partners, children, caregivers, loved ones and friends.

In 2008, Cassidy, a Grade 3 student living in Nova Scotia extended a challenge to all individuals throughout our country to stand up and show their support for those living with this life altering neurological disorder. Not only have Canadians accepted the challenge, but it has now become an international event. Individuals worldwide have become champions of our cause, lifting their voices to be heard.

On behalf of Cassidy, Epilepsy Ontario along with local community epilepsy agencies have accepted the challenge and taken Purple Day to unprecedented heights. What better way to announce the Purple Day Campaign than lighting up the skies? The CN Tower in Toronto, Niagara Falls and The Big Nickel in Sudbury are just a few of the landmarks which will illuminate their buildings in purple to showcase their support.

We extend the invitation to all Canadians, to stand up and be heard. Wear you purple ribbon, challenge your friends and colleague to join the purple wave, contact your local MPs have March declared Epilepsy Awareness month, inspire your schoolmates.

Support coast to coast in any form helps individuals with epilepsy feel more connected and less alone.
