Introduction
Epilepsy Ontario is working on an Ontario Strategy for Epilepsy Care. Our effort has been inspired by the Stroke Strategy, prepared by the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and adopted by the Ontario Ministry of Health.
The Epilepsy Strategy has been in the works for over two years now, and we're hoping to prepare a final version in the next few months.
We've decided to devote this whole issue of Sharing to the Epilepsy Strategy. We want you to know what's going on, and what's been accomplished so far. And we want your input.
Our goal is the creation of three, large comprehensive epilepsy treatment centers in Ontario, modelled after the large "comprehensive" programs in the States. We are hoping for improved care in the urban centers, improved care in rural sites, more support for people living with seizures, and better public education.
