Local Boy Throws Opening Pitch at Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Game
Press Release - 98/08/28
On 25 August 1998, a local boy had the pleasure of throwing the ceremonial first pitch in SkyDome at game 64 between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals.
In conjunction with Epilepsy Ontario's Dress SPoRTsY program, which is endorsed by the Toronto Blue Jays, 500 seats at SkyDome were sold by EO chapters to raise funds for children's services, counselling, literature, school presentations and other services for those with epilepsy. Epilepsy Durham Region sold the most tickets to the game, allowing them the opening pitch.
The ceremonial first pitch was thrown by 14-year-old Scotty, who is a regular camper with the Spike & Wave Camp which is held every summer for children living with seizure disorders. Scotty also volunteers at Epilepsy Durham Region.
Thanks to all who helped make the evening a success. Remember: because of your efforts, this young man had a time he'll never forget!
