Epilepsy Ontario is a registered charitable non-profit non-governmental health organization dedicated to promoting independence and optimal quality of life for children and adults living with seizure disorders, by promoting information, awareness, support services, advocacy, education and research.
Through a network of chapters, contacts and associates, Epilepsy Ontario provides client services, counselling, information and referral services, education and advocacy services for children and adults living with seizure disorders, and for their families, friends, co-workers and caregivers.
EO offers long-term programmes to raise standards of care and we support medical research into seizure disorders. We hope to improve public awareness and education through the Provincial Resource Centre, publications, this web site, conferences, and outreach programs.
Epilepsy Ontario was duly incorporated under the statutes of the
Province of Ontario,
Canada, as a non-profit organization in Ontario on 20 January 1956.
Epilepsy Ontario's funding is entirely from the general public, including contributions from corporations, foundations, patrons, individuals and from special events. Some
chapters receive United Way Community Funding for direct client services.
Epilepsy Ontario and its affiliates serve a population of more than 12 million people in an area of more than 1.1 million square kilmetres. This is an area larger than France and Spain combined. At its greatest, Ontario spans an east/west distance of 1,690 km. and a north/south distance of 1,730 km. |
One of our goals in the development of this site is to provide easy access to all the basic materials and current information about epilepsy and related issues needed by our chapter personnel and the people they serve, in a fast, reliable and cost-effective medium. The Internet allows us to offer this information to them and anyone on the web who needs it.
We invite you to send your
